UK to tax tech giants if they fail to combat online extremism
Tech giants such as Google and Facebook could face multimillion-pound tax bills if they don’t do more to combat extremism. Ben Wallace the UK’s security minister accused tech firms of being “ruthless profiteers” and said they were failing to help security services to identify terrorists and eradicate online extremism.

Mark Zuckerberg promises to fix Facebook’s social problems
Since 2009, the Facebook founder has set himself a personal challenge at the start of each year. This year Mark Zuckerberg has promised to protect Facebook from becoming a forum for fake news and inappropriate government influence this year. Declaring that his personal challenge for 2018 “was to focus on fixing these important issues”.
