Surge in demand for locum GPs as workforce crisis continues
A GPonline survey has revealed that more than half of General Practices have reported a rising dependence on locum doctors over the past year. One in five GP's said that the proportion of shifts at the practices they work, has increased significantly over the past 12 months. Responses to the survey found that despite the rising use of locum doctors, demand was such that practices would have brought in more if they had been able to find available doctors.
Thousands of NHS staff from the EU have left since UK referendum
New data suggests that thousands of NHS staff from the EU have left since Britain voted for Brexit in 2016, in three years over 11,600 NHS staff from the EU have left, including 4,783. These stats came from freedom of information requests submitted by the Liberal Democrats, asking 135 NHS hospital trusts in England. Some of the worse affected NHS trusts so far in 2019, include London North West, Oxford University Hospitals and University Hospitals Bristol.
Election pledges for the NHS
Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson have visited a lot of NHS Trusts on the campaign trail for the general election, with both promising more spending that the UK has seen since many years. With polling day coming ahead of a looming winter period that is predicted to the worst faced by the service, all eyes will be on the parties to see what extra support they will pledge.
NHS Project and Change Academy e-learning programme now live
Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare has developed an e-learning programme for NHS staff about project and change management activities. These specially designed and selected modules aim to provide all NHS staff with a clear and consistent understanding of the fundamentals of project and change management activities. They are available for anyone working within health and care as a method for building project and change capability in the NHS.

On-going stress and constant pressure in the workplace can often lead nurses and doctors to suffer from exhaustion and in some cases, burnout.
