This week in our Fire & Security industry news round-up we cover the outstanding success of security TWENTY 17 show in Nottingham, the rise of video surveillance within the small business sector, the future of the drones, smart cities and more.
Fire & Security industry news round-up for the week ending 10 February 2017
Video surveillance rises within the small business sector
Latest research prepared by Onepoll forecasts that among 500 UK small business owners, 82% of video surveillance users are considering replacing their existing system with more up-to-date technology. 39% of those that do not have video surveillance in place, are considering implementing it in the next two years. Main reason for the growth are the concerns over theft and loss as well as a desire to apply the latest technology to ensure the best quality security.

2017 Horizons – drones, smart cities and more
Our news feeds at the beginning of 2017 are full of industry forecasts and expectations. SP&T News are shining the light on upcoming trends, predicting which directions CCTV, drones, cyber security, smart cities and the integration services business are all headed. Drones are expected to be one of the hottest topics in 2017; “Large integrators seem very well placed to use this type of application and a large number of them already have monitoring contracts”
Cyber security best practice: public or private Sector
As the security challenges facing both continue to escalate, there are areas where private and public sector can take a leaf out of each other’s books. The recent reinforcement by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond, of a £1.9 billion investment in bolstering the UK’s cyber defences also highlights the increasing need for cooperation between business, government, academia and industry to confront the growing menace of cybercrime.

Security TWENTY 17 Midlands
Once again we had a pleasure at exhibiting at Security Twenty 17 show, set in the central location of the East Midlands Conference Centre & Orchard Hotel in Nottingham on Thursday, 9 February 2017, discussing current activity and providing our insight into the Security & Fire recruitment market. Security Twenty 17 events aim to raise funds for local charities. In Nottingham, we raised £3000 for Simon’s Heroes which is taking care of children with life-limiting illnesses.
