London (hybrid, flexible)

Role Overview
This is a senior-tier permanent position based in London within a leading mission-critical design team.
As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you will bridge the gap between technical design and project leadership. You will be responsible for the high-level design of complex power systems while managing client relationships and overseeing a dedicated team of electrical engineers and BIM technicians.
This role is ideal for an ambitious Senior Engineer ready to take on greater commercial and operational responsibility within the data centre sector.

About You
  • Experience: Extensive experience in electrical building services, with a significant portfolio of Data Centre or Mission-Critical projects.
  • Education: Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly preferred.
  • Technical Depth: Expert knowledge of LV/MV power distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, and protection coordination.
  • Standards: Mastery of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and a deep understanding of IEC and CIBSE codes specifically related to data centres.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, lead engineering teams, and mentor junior staff.
  • Communication: Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to lead design workshops and present technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Right to Work: Must have the full right to work in the UK and be based in or commutable to London.
Your Day-to-Day Activities
  • Project Leadership: Act as the Electrical Lead on large-scale data centre developments, managing the project from initial feasibility through to final commissioning.
  • Technical Quality: Ensure all electrical design packages meet the highest technical standards and align with the client’s Operational Sustainability and Uptime requirements.
  • Client Management: Manage expectations and maintain strong relationships with global hyperscale and co-location providers.
  • Commercial Oversight: Assist in the preparation of fee proposals, resource planning, and the management of project budgets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Mechanical, CSA (Civil, Structural, Architectural), and BIM teams to ensure fully coordinated, conflict-free designs.
  • Innovation: Drive the adoption of sustainable electrical technologies, such as BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) and HVO-ready generation.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and career development support to a team of engineers and graduates.
Technical Focus: Power Resilience
In the data centre environment, the electrical infrastructure is the backbone of the facility. You will be responsible for designing systems that ensure "five nines" ($99.999%$) availability.

Core Systems You Will Oversee:
  • Power Chain Architecture: Designing $N 1$, $2N$, and Distributed Redundancy configurations.
  • Critical Power: Specification of Static and Rotary UPS systems and advanced battery technologies (Lithium-ion / Sodium-ion).
  • Earthing & EMC: Developing robust earthing and bonding strategies for high-frequency environments.
  • Monitoring & Control: Integration of SCADA, PMS (Power Monitoring Systems), and EPMS to provide real-time visibility of the power chain.
What’s On Offer
  • Project Scale: Opportunity to work on some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects in Europe.
  • Hybrid Working: Flexible office-based environment in London with a balanced hybrid model.
  • Professional Development: Direct path toward Technical Director/Partner level within the organisation.
  • Benefits: Competitive salary package, comprehensive private healthcare, and industry-leading pension contributions.
