City surveillance market is on the rise

The latest research by IHS Markit shows that the global market for city surveillance has registered robust growth in the past few years, surpassing $3 billion in 2017. The market is forecast to grow at an average annual rate of 14.6% from 2016 to 2021. the Chinese market for security equipment in city surveillance is the world largest, accounting for two-thirds of global revenue, and that China will become the first country to widely use facial recognition in city surveillance projects, with more than 10,000 smart cameras expected to be deployed in Shenzhen city in 2018.

Privacy and cyber security, are considered the biggest obstacles facing the development of the IoT today but blockchain offers viable solutions to both problems. Using blockchain we can create unhackable, incorruptible, and quickly accessible trusted identities for both devices and people. “The internet was developed without any sense of a provable personal identity; With blockchain’s open ledger and smart contracts, you could have a secure way of proving that you are who you are on the Internet, while controlling who gets access to your ID information and how it can be used.”

Latest industry acquisitions by Johnsons Control & Camtrex

Johnson Controls has acquired Smartvue, a leading IoT and video provider which empowers cloud video surveillance and IoT video services. The addition of the Smartvue cloud-based video platform will enhance Johnson Controls’ offering of an end-to-end, smart cloud-based solution.
Cemtrex Inc., a world-leading technology and manufacturing company, has entered into an agreement to acquire ownership of approximately 46% of the outstanding common stock of Vicon Industries Inc., a New York-based leading provider of mission-critical security and video surveillance systems.
