Mayor of London announces £7m fund to help access to tech jobs
London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan has unveiled a £7m programme that will enable young Londoners with the skills they need to access jobs in the capital’s thriving digital, technology and creative industries. By establishing this tech talent pipeline the fund will also have a particular focus on boosting women within the Tech industry, which currently stands at only 17%.
The queen signs Investigatory Powers Bill despite petition against it
A petition was launched against the Investigatory Powers Bill, asking the government to revoke the act that will allow the government and intelligence agencies unprecedented surveillance power. At the time of publication the petition reached over 134,000 signatures, but despite the mounting opposition from thousands it has now been officially approved by the Queen.

Cyber-attack hits Talk Talk and Post Office routers
Thousands of Talk Talk and Post Office users have had their internet access cut due to a cyber-attack targeting certain types of internet routers. The attack involved the use of a modified form of the Mirari worm, a type of malware spread via hijacked computers. This causes damage to equipment powered by Linux-based operating systems. Since the attack, the Post Office have “reassured customers no personal data or devices have been compromised.”

New passage to India for UK’s SME’s
India has overtaken China as the world’s fastest growing major economy this year and is thought to be an ideal place for British SME’s to do business. Tech is at the heart of India’s successful growth with its’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aiming to create 100 “smart cities” in the country. India’s cities integrate ICT and IOT tech to create advanced urban hubs with the aim to mitigate poverty.
