Women in Security Awards 2016

Since 2012, Professional Security Magazine have organised the Women in Security Awards every year, to recognise and celebrate women’s successes in this fast-paced industry dominated by men. The awards are given in 3 categories: “Security Manager”, “Contribution to Industry” & “Frontline Officer”. Deadline for entries is today and the Awards will take place at the Security Institute’s Black Tie Gala Dinner on 22 September.

The Personal Identification Management market is growing

 

According to research released by Marketsandmarkets, the personal ID market, that is currently worth $7.37 Billion, is predicted to reach $12.76 Billion by 2021 at a CAGR of 11.61%. The growth is fueled by the increasing technology trend of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and Choose Your Own Device (CYOD) that brings security threats associated with identity thefts.

Tyco & Johnson Controls merger approved

Mega merger that was first announced in January 2016 has been approved on Wednesday by companies’ shareholders. The deal is expected to be finalized in 2 weeks. “I am pleased our shareholders have voted in favor of this powerful strategic combination, which will unite two world-class companies with complementary capabilities”.

Axis taking over Canon’s security cameras sales in EMEA

Industry rumor has it, that from 1st of September 2016 Canon Europe is planning to stop all sales and marketing of Canon security cameras products in the EMEA. Contribution in the region will be taken over by Axis Communications. It would strengthen Axis position as a supplier  of the security cameras in the EMEA. Corporate Communication Manager at Axis  neither confirms nor denies the information. “We are currently in discussions with Canon Europe and its partners in the EMEA market. Whatever the result of these discussions, we can tell you more about on the 1st of September”.
