London / Hybrid £550–£650 per day 6-month contract (possible extension)
A fast-growing Series A FinTech startup building infrastructure for real-time payment reconciliation is looking for a Senior Java Engineer to support the next phase of product scaling. The platform processes high volumes of financial transactions and integrates with multiple banking APIs across Europe. You’ll work closely with a small team of engineers and the CTO to improve system performance and deliver new microservices. Responsibilities
Design and build high-performance backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs used by financial partners
Improve system scalability and resilience as transaction volumes grow
Collaborate with product and engineering teams in an agile environment
Support integration with third-party financial services

Requirements
5 years Java backend experience
Strong experience with Spring Boot and distributed systems
Experience with financial or high-transaction systems is a plus
