Mechanical Technical Director

The client. An international mechanical and electrical consultancy known for low carbon, low energy design, with a data centre portfolio that has outgrown its current leadership structure.

The role. Mechanical Technical Director, London based, leading the mechanical side of the data centre practice with genuine technical authority and commercial ownership.

The work. Leading and developing the engineering team. Cost and profit analysis, feasibility studies and fee proposals. Setting project requirements directly with clients and holding those relationships long term. Overseeing construction monitoring and installation. Producing due diligence reports and surveys on existing data centres. Mentoring junior engineers. Writing technical white papers and presenting at industry events.

The scope. Business development is available to whoever wants it, and there is room to steer the practice in the direction you think it should go rather than inherit someone else's plan.

The requirements.

• BSc or BEng in an engineering discipline, or HND/HNC with equivalent experience
• Chartered Engineer status, MCIBSE or MIEE
• Significant mechanical specification design experience across building types
• Strong project management credentials, international experience desirable
• Working knowledge of health and safety, contract and business law
