Ready to run your own site for a client with a European project pipeline behind it?
Our client is looking for a Site Manager to lead delivery on a data centre project in Frankfurt. It is a practical, hands-on management role covering the engineers, the documentation, the deliveries and the day-to-day decisions that keep a fit-out on programme.
They are a European digital infrastructure and network services group whose Data Centre Services division delivers structured cabling and passive infrastructure on major projects across mainland Europe. This position is based on site in Frankfurt, with travel to client sites elsewhere in Europe.
What they are really looking for is judgement. Spotting the risk before it becomes an incident, noticing that two trades are about to want the same riser, knowing when a change notice needs challenging rather than absorbing, and staying close enough to the installation to pick up a tool when that is the quickest way through.
What the role involves
- Managing project documentation so the work is properly tracked
- Delivering toolbox talks to the engineers on site
- Assessing site risks and putting controls in place
- Monitoring operations against customer expectations and programme dates
- Coordinating between departments to keep delivery moving
- Reporting project information clearly to the project managers
- Tracking and managing change notices and change orders
- Arranging equipment deliveries and keeping stock accounted for
- Reviewing site performance and proposing practical improvements
- Occasional hands-on support
What you need
- A solid track record on data centre projects, typically built over five years or more
- Working knowledge of Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6a copper cabling solutions
- Working knowledge of OM3, OM4, OM5, OS1 and OS2 fibre solutions
- Confident with Excel, Word and Visio
- Strong written and verbal communication, since you are the bridge between site and office
- Comfortable working to fixed programme dates where conditions change day to day
- Able to be based in Frankfurt and travel to client sites across mainland Europe
German is useful on site, though the projects run in English.
What is on offer
