Our client is an international MEP consultancy known for low energy, low carbon design, and their data centre schemes have grown large enough to need an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer running them properly.

The role covers directing major data centre projects with team management attached, running feasibility studies and preparing fee bids, developing mechanical specifications for controls and operating systems, surveying existing installations and producing technical reports, monitoring project risk and performance, and fronting client and contractor meetings. Engineering services coordination sits at the centre of it, because the practice expects a holistic solution rather than a mechanical design passed over the fence.

The requirements are straightforward at this level:

• Chartered Engineer status, MCIBSE or MIEE
• BSc or BEng in engineering, or HND/HNC with substantial experience
• Extensive mechanical specification design across building types, ideally mission critical or data centre
• Contract and business law knowledge alongside BS standards and UK regulations
• Leadership, mentoring and presentation skills
