Associate Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is an international MEP consultancy known for low-energy, low-carbon design, and their data centre team is taking on schemes large enough to need an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to run them effectively. This is a step into leadership, with a team underneath you and commercial responsibility alongside the technical work.

The role spans directing major data centre projects with team management attached, running feasibility studies and preparing fee bids, developing mechanical specifications for controls and operating systems, surveying existing installations and producing technical reports, monitoring project risk and performance, and representing the consultancy to clients and contractors.

Engineering services coordination sits at the heart of it, with the practice expecting a holistic view of the solution rather than a mechanical design handed over the fence.

What they are looking for:

• BSc or BEng in engineering, or HND/HNC with substantial experience
• Chartered Engineer status, MCIBSE or MIEE
• Extensive mechanical specification design experience across building types, ideally in mission-critical or data centre environments
• Knowledge of contract and business law alongside BS standards and UK regulations
• Leadership, mentoring and presentation skills
