Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer - PHP, Symfony, JavaScript, AWS, MySQL - South West London

As a Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer do you embrace product-ownership mentality, prioritising the user experience and taking ownership and accountability beyond the usual boundaries of project delivery?

A software company based in South West London, selected as one of Europe's fastest growing technology companies, is seeking an experienced Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer to join their Agile development team, developing affordable software trusted by thousands of world-leading organisations. It is an interesting product with lots of different parts as part of a suite of applications - which will give your workload variety.

You should take pride as a Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer in the fact that the product you're working on is the company, drives the company, and will have a direct impact on the business. The business are profitable and secure with a lot of big customers - so if you enjoy seeing the impact of your work, you will see the impact straight away in this role, with thousands of jobs based on using this product globally, with over 2 million users every month.

They are well-established, going since the early 2000's, but the business has a cool start up vibe, with modern office, the latest equipment (including stand-up desks!) and technologies. They are always looking to improve on the best way of doing things, and the best tools available. The original developers on the product are now the management team - so they 'get it', are still hands on and not removed from product, so will be part of your day to day iterations as Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer.

As Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer, you will help build new features and modules, you'll be involved in shaping underlying product frameworks and internal processes like code reviews and deployment, and you'll get to participate in feature planning and have real input on the direction the business takes on the product and the company as a whole. You will be given a lot of autonomy over your work, so you will need to be a "do-er" and self-disciplined.

The role itself is 60% back-end and 40% front-end. You should be a PHP expert as Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer with a breadth of knowledge, and with product experience working on development of software products that your employer develops and sells, rather than experience developing websites or forms in PHP.

You will have experience in a PHP framework - Symfony ideally as this is what they use, but they are open to others including Laravel. You should have experience doing complex tasks within either the Symfony or Laravel framework such as fixing bugs, rather than just using it to develop web applications or websites.

JavaScript knowledge is also important as this is a Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer role. You are not expected to be a JavaScript expert, but you should know your way around JavaScript code to dip into the frontend to help integrate your features into the product.

They've begun to deploy other technologies like Elastic, Redis, and all the services offered by AWS. They also have tools and services written in a variety of languages including JavaScript, Kotlin, and Go.

As previously mentioned the company is based in South West London and is a great place to work as a Senior PHP Full Stack Product Engineer, and the Management are dedicated to providing a friendly and relaxed work environment where their team can thrive. They want you to enjoy working with them, so they offer plenty of perks to brighten your day - sit-stand desks, free snacks, a fully-stocked beer fridge, and team lunches every Friday to name a few.

Other benefits include BUPA Private Healthcare, Company Bonus Scheme, reduced gym membership and encouragement for self-improvement: Company-sponsored server/hosting for your side projects; books; conferences; and courses.
