Ruby Software Developer - Tech for Good

Ruby, Padrino, Postgres, AWS (RDS, Redshift, SES, S3), Heroku, React

Are you a Ruby Developer who wants to use your skills to make the world a better place and join the #techforgood movement?

It's never been easier to use digital technology to tackle some of the world's toughest social and environmental challenges. Our client unites and engages people in every corner of the country with digital tools to make their voices heard on the issues they care about with meaningful political campaigning.

They are looking for like-minded and confident mid-level and Senior Ruby Developers to join their passionate, open-minded, socially conscious and politically aware team.

As a Ruby Developer, you will be using your skills to design and build software that helps the company's members and colleagues campaign to make Britain a fairer and better place to live.

They build most of their software in Ruby (mostly Rails), use Postgres hosted on AWS RDS for most of their databases, and use Heroku to host most of their web applications.

Ruby Developers are expected to have at least a few years of commercial web development experience, however, there are no formal education requirements for this role - as long as you can show them you have the skills they don't mind where you got them from! Ideally, you will have had exposure to Padrino, Postgres, AWS (RDS, Redshift, SES, S3), Heroku, and React.

Over the last few years, they've built dozens of new tools and features, and together with their campaigning staff, you will always be working on ideas for what to build next, swiftly enough to take advantage of fast-moving political opportunities - so there will be plenty of projects to sink your teeth into and to use your skills to make an impact on making Britain a more fair and equal society to live in!

Salary range: £40,000 - £50,000 mid-range, £50,000 - £60,000 senior

Benefits: 27 days holiday per year (plus Bank Holidays), employer pension contribution, 24 hour employee support line, enhanced family leave policies, childcare vouchers, cycle to work scheme, free annual flu vaccination, rental deposit loan, contribution to eye tests
