A fintech are looking to bring in a Desktop Engineer to work with the head of infrastructure to deliver the highest level of internal support to the tech and product team within the business. You will be involved with a range of different areas and while a lot of the desktops are windows the servers are all Linux.
Qualifications & Experience:
o Windows 10, Linux (Debian or Ubuntu), MacOS
o Active Directory via windows Management tools
o Office365 management with PowerShell
o Desktop/Laptop hardware setup and management and automation
o Key and Certificate setup and management
o Implementing Information Security Policy and Procedures
o Virtual Machine Management
o Linux OS exposure to modify scripts and configurations
* Provides high-level support for applications.
* Works with hardware and software vendors to resolve equipment failures/problems
* Applies moderately advanced knowledge of PC applications and support; technically able
to resolve 70% of PC (hardware) and/or applications (software) support procedures with
* Independently handle new PC configurations and software installations.
* Strong communicator with a can-do attitude.
* Self-motivated, pro-active and autonomous, highly organised, with good team-working
* Other Duties as assigned.
o Build and install PCs, telephone systems, wireless networks and peripheral devices
(such as printers, scanners, mobile/smart phones) related to desktops and laptops.
o Automate the desktop and laptop builds using tools such as Chocolatey.
o Handle first and second line queries from the desktop and laptop user base
o Setup and support Remote Desktop and VPN connectivity
o Maintain installed PCs, networks, telephone systems and peripherals
o Maintain Samba Active Directory whilst working with the Infrastructure team to
enhance its capabilities.
o Govern Active Directory polices with the latest security practices following ITIL
o Identify, log and resolve technical problems with software applications.
o Identify potential changes and system improvements to present to technology
leadership team for consideration and implementation.
o Ensure that work is carried out within agreed service levels and in accordance with
o Good understanding of operating systems including Windows 10, MacOS and Linux
with exposure to PowerShell and Linux bash scripts.
o Create knowledge and support articles that help users resolve desktop related
o Ability to setup, operate and troubleshoot audio and video connections to PC
and/or conference room equipment and operate webinar applications (e.g.,
WebEx, Live Meeting, GoToMeeting).
o Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions using
recommended end point security tools
o Support and maintenance of secure endpoint detection
o Support and maintenance of meeting room audio visual equipment
