New record at Intersec 2017

Increase of intensity and sophistication of cyber attacks

Although the NTT Security analysts observed a 35 percent decrease in the number of cyber security attacks during Q4 2016, the intensity and sophistication of these attacks are on the rise. “Hackers are shifting their strategy from widespread attacks to a more focused effort to compromise specific targets they can leverage, opening the door for more malicious and potentially lucrative actions.” Quarterly Threat Intelligence Report prepared by NTT Security underscores the need for more advanced tools to protect organisations’ data and networks from the evolving tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) used by cyber attackers.

International tourists safety

European hotels are becoming our tourism’s Achilles’ heel due to a loose legislative framework for safety. Fire remains the biggest danger in European hotels, with more and more travellers choosing to go ‘off the map’ opting for smaller hotels rather than big chains. The problem is that the smaller ones are actually less scrutinised, more ill-equipped than bigger ones to deal with fires. As tourism is now more globalised than ever, a failure to act quickly could come with yet another cost for Europe.
