What does a Data Cabling Engineer do?
A Data Cabling Engineer is required to design complex cable plans for telecommunication systems, lay, install and test fiber cables and networks, patch panels and solve technical engineering issues relating to cable systems.
Data cabling positions can range from a focus on research, developing new data cabling equipment for telecoms and data systems, to working out in the field, integrating computer and internet networks with comms equipment.
What skills does Data Cabling Engineer have?
Data Cabling Engineers are ideally required to have PASMA, IPAF and CSCS Card, a foundation degree, BETC HNC/HND in engineering or a similar course. It's also beneficial for a Data Cabling Engineer to have an understanding of fiber optic technology, competent math skills, high attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
